This full-day experience begins deep in the Douro Valley — not among the cellars, but on the terraced hillsides where local bees turn the same landscape into honey. You'll meet a local beekeeper who has tended hives here for generations, suiting up to step inside a working apiary before tasting a range of honeys shaped by native flora — heather, chestnut, rosemary, and wildflower among them, each with its own character.

Lunch follows at a traditional farm belonging to a leading local producer, sampling a range of regional dishes. You'll then carry on to a scenic viewpoint over the terraces and river, before settling in for a quiet ride on a solar-powered boat gliding past those same hillsides.

Port wine isn't the only sweet thing that comes out of the Douro Valley, and this experience is proof of that. Most visitors leave the Douro having toured a wine estate. Few ever meet the people quietly keeping bees on those same slopes, working with knowledge passed down through generations.

Still with the beekeeper, you'll sit down for an informal tasting of several raw, unblended honeys, shaped by the flora of the surrounding hills: acacia, chestnut, rosemary, and wild heather among them. After lunch, you’ll head to a scenic viewpoint overlooking one of the most striking stretches of the Douro Valley. It's an iconic Pinhão viewpoint, where Douro’s vineyards and river converge in panoramic harmony. From here, you can see how the region has been shaped into terraced hills that trace the contours of the land.

You’ll have time to take in the layout of the valley, recognize the textures of what you’ve tasted, and notice the slow patterns of rural life: a tractor on a distant ridge, smoke rising from a chimney, rows of vines wrapping a hillside.

Your day begins with a pick-up at your meeting point in the Douro Valley, aboard a 100% electric vintage VW Kombi. Built for quiet, low-impact travel, the Kombi sets an unhurried tone from the start.
