With formal certification from Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and years of teaching experience, Şeyma has a profound understanding of the history, evolution, and intricacies of the traditional Turkish art of illumination. Having participated in many group and solo exhibitions and published work on Tezhip art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient art form. Chile

Hosted by an architect, this full-day excursion analyzes Santiago’s preserved pre-colonial grid and the strategic placement of a city within a natural basin. Diego Baloian is an architect holding a degree from the Universidad Finis Terrae and a Master's in Cultural Heritage from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). As the founding partner at DBG Architecture and Massantiago, his work focuses on architectural design, the restoration of heritage buildings, and urban planning. This full-day experience immerses you in Essaouira’s industrial heritage, with a focus on the sugar and argan oil trades. The day trip begins with a scenic walk through groves of twisted Argan trees, learning about this UNESCO‑protected ecosystem and spotting local wildlife like squirrels, rare birds, and even foxes. Growing up in Buenos Aires, Gisela Vidal danced her first tango at the age of 14. From there, she trained extensively in Tango Salon and Tango Stage style with the finest Argentinian Masters. Besides tango, Gisela has studied contemporary dance, jazz, belly dance, ballet, Argentine folk, and salsa. She has undertaken further tuition in theater and film acting, mime and clown art, and singing.

Gisela has participated in international tango festivals and major events including the opening of the Dakar 2009 in Buenos Aires. She was the choreographer and a stunt dancer for the Tango Infedele Video Clip.

During her 20-year career, Gisela has danced and coached in over 40 countries. She co-managed a tango school in Milan and coordinated the Tango Querido School in Tuscany. She launched her own jewelry business in 2018.

Tim Cowley, a former professional rugby player from New Zealand, moved to Europe in 2003, originally planning to stay for just one year. Travel quickly became central to his life, and after retiring from rugby in 2012, he chose to focus on his passion for wine, travel, and French culture.

Bordeaux brought all of this together. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Fez, Morocco, is home to the Bou Inania Madrasa, one of the most stunning examples of Marinid-era Islamic architecture. Built in the 14th century by Sultan Abu Inan Faris, this madrasa (Islamic school) served as both a center of learning and a place of worship. Unlike many religious sites in Morocco, Bou Inania is one of the few madrasas open to non-Muslim visitors, allowing them to admire its breathtaking zellij tilework, intricate wood carvings, and grand courtyard. A masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship, the madrasa is a must-visit for those interested in history, architecture, and photography.

1. The grand entrance, framed by an elaborately carved cedarwood door, welcomes visitors into a world of geometric patterns, Arabic calligraphy, and fine stucco work.

Bou Inania Madrasa

Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is famous not only because it is the largest coral reef in the ocean, but also because it is the most beautiful one. For those who like snorkeling or diving, an unsurpassable underwater world opens up.

My highlight in Australia was definitely the day trip to the reef. From Cairns, we took the tourist boat out to sea. Since the water is relatively cold, you get a wetsuit and then have hours to discover the unique underwater world.

I saw sharks, turtles, huge colorful corals, man-sized fish, thousands of small schools of fish, a clam, rays, snails, and lots of underwater plants.

Remember that you are a trespasser in the underwater world, so be careful not to touch or destroy anything. Use organic sunscreen and always be respectful of your surroundings.

The world’s largest reef

Leave from Split or Rovinj at 5:00 AM, arriving at 8:00 AM when the park opens. Purchase your tickets online in advance to save time.

Veliki Slap (8:15 AM - 8:45 AM). Gear: Wide-angle lens, tripod. Tips: Capture the waterfall in the soft morning light. The wide-angle lens will include the surrounding landscape, and the tripod ensures stability for long exposure shots to capture the water's movement.

Lower Lakes (Donja Jezera) (9:00 AM - 10:30 AM). Gear: Polarizing filter, wide-angle lens. Tips: Walk along the boardwalks, capturing reflections on the water. The polarizing filter enhances water colors and reduces glare. Experiment with various angles to get different perspectives of the lakes and surrounding vegetation.

Upper Lakes (Gornja Jezera) (10:45 AM - 12:00 PM). Gear: Polarizing filter, telephoto lens. Tips: Capture the lush greenery and numerous waterfalls. Use the polarizing filter to manage reflections and the telephoto lens for detailed shots of the waterfalls and flora. Focus on textures and patterns in the landscape.

Sastavci Waterfall (12:15 PM - 12:45 PM). Gear: Tripod, wide-angle lens. Tips: Experiment with long exposure shots to achieve a silky water effect. Frame the waterfall with surrounding greenery to add depth to your photos. The tripod is essential for stabilizing the camera during long exposures.

Boardwalks and Wooden Paths (1:00 PM - 1:30 PM). Gear: Wide-angle lens. Tips: Use leading lines to draw attention to the natural beauty of the park. Capture wide-angle shots that include the paths and surrounding landscapes. These images will highlight the unique structure of the park’s walkways and the immersive experience they offer.

Bring: Tripod, polarizing filter, wide-angle lens, telephoto lens
Weather: Mist and rain can add a mystical quality to your photos, so embrace the changing conditions and use them to your advantage.

Photography in Plitvice

Portugal’s Almendres Cromlech, located near Évora in the Alentejo region, is one of the largest and oldest megalithic sites in Europe. Dating back over 7,000 years, this Neolithic stone circle predates Stonehenge and offers a fascinating glimpse into Portugal’s prehistoric past. Surrounded by rolling hills and cork oak forests, this mystical site remains a place of intrigue, believed to have been used for astronomical observations, rituals, and social gatherings.


1. Nearly 100 standing stones, arranged in elliptical and circular formations, some engraved with ancient symbols and carvings.

2. Stunning natural setting, with the Alentejo countryside providing a peaceful and remote atmosphere, ideal for quiet reflection and photography.
