What is this?

This photography experience takes you on a slow, atmospheric journey through Porto's western edge, where the Douro River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Beginning aboard one of Porto's historic trams, you'll travel along the riverside toward Foz do Douro, passing riverfront neighborhoods like Ribeira and Miragaia and old warehouses, capturing scenes of everyday life. Guided by local photographer Teresa, you'll explore one of Porto's most character-filled districts, far from the crowded historic center. From coastal views to urban details, you'll see this northern Portuguese city from a perspective most visitors miss. Throughout the journey, Teresa shares practical guidance on composition, visual storytelling, and working with natural light. Along the way, you'll pause for coffee and local snacks before continuing along Foz's Atlantic-facing promenade toward Farol de Felgueiras, the lighthouse standing on a stone breakwater at the mouth of the Douro.

What makes this unique?

Foz do Douro is where Porto residents escape the busy center to walk beneath the tree-shaded Passeio Alegre Garden, watch waves crash against the promenade, and gather in historic cafés overlooking the Atlantic. It's a lived-in neighborhood. Rather than focusing on landmarks alone, this experience captures the atmosphere and rhythm of the area. With your camera in hand, you'll notice the contrast between grand seaside villas, the quiet residential streets of old Foz, and the energy of the Atlantic coastline. The historic tram — running since 1872, with some carriages dating from the 1920s — traces the transformation of Porto's waterfront districts as you travel from Ribeira and Miragaia toward the sea, passing near landmarks including the Arrábida Bridge. With Teresa's local knowledge and photography guidance, you'll learn how to notice fleeting moments, changing light, and the subtle details that many visitors overlook.
