You start at the lesser-visited Calca market, an introduction to Andean life through conversation with vendors. After coffee and a snack at a family's home, you see an alpaca blessing ritual — an enduring Andean tradition, normally performed at festivals and shared here with you — a look at the bond between people, animals, the land. The afternoon closes at a highland lagoon viewpoint saved for the day's best light. This Sacred Valley experience is designed and curated by Dan and hosted by one of his trusted local photography guides from the valley. Originally from France with Danish roots, Dan has lived in Peru since 2017. A professional photographer, he leads and curates private photography tours across Peru and elsewhere in South America, focusing on real life, local culture, and the encounters that come with them — from remote Andean communities to markets and quiet landscapes. Part of what he earns is shared with the local communities he works with, to support their livelihoods and traditions.
