What is this?
This full-day visual storytelling experience in Lima explores the city with a professional photographer, capturing everyday life beyond the sightseeing route. This photography-focused experience reveals local life and the many contrasts of Peru's capital city, from its colonial-era architecture to its modern energy, coastal beauty and everyday street life. Specifically, the route calls at Callao Monumental, Magdalena Market, Barranco and Chorrillos, culminating at the panoramic Morro Solar.
While a handful of landmarks are included, the route spotlights hidden corners where you capture Lima's rawest beauty and appreciate its authenticity. You watch locals going about their day, selling fresh produce at markets and heaving the morning's catch from their boats. You zoom in on the secret beauty of the lesser-visited coastal province of Callao and connect with the bohemian charm of Barranco — a seaside district cherished by artists and designers. The experience includes private transport.
What makes this unique?
This experience goes beyond photographing Lima's landmarks to telling the story of the city through its people and neighborhoods. Instead of focusing on famous sights, the route is designed to show everyday scenes from life in Lima — from traditional markets and working fishing communities to contemporary street art and coastal landscapes. With a professional photographer as your guide, you learn how to photograph people respectfully, capture movement and color in busy environments, and compose strong visual stories. Dan helps you approach vendors and fishermen for portraits, opening conversations travelers rarely have.
The experience is designed to allow time for moving at your own pace and focusing on subjects that interest you most. Dan (or one of his guides) will help you capture striking urban images while also sharing anecdotes about life in Lima. By the end of the day, you will have a sequence of moments that reflects Lima's culture, creativity, and life by the Pacific Ocean.
