What is this?
This experience begins in Bordeaux, where you'll meet your host before heading toward the vineyards of Saint Emilion. From there, you'll move through the landscape on electric bikes, allowing you to cover distance comfortably while staying connected to the land.
Along the way, you'll stop to visit two different wine estates. A family run winery offers an introduction to everyday work in the vineyards, followed by a picnic lunch shared among the vines. The afternoon continues with a second stop at a Saint Emilion Grand Cru estate, where a guided cellar visit and tasting place these wines within the region's classification and production traditions.
The day then shifts from vineyards to village life with a guided walk through the historic center of Saint Emilion, a UNESCO-listed site. Streets, churches, and viewpoints provide context before a final tasting in the village itself, offering another perspective on local wines.
What makes this unique?
Traveling by premium electric bike changes how you relate to Saint-Emilion and its wine country. Instead of observing the landscape, you move through it, following the same roads and vineyard paths that connect estates, villages, and cellars. This way of moving creates continuity between places that are often experienced in fragments, allowing the territory to emerge as a coherent whole rather than a sequence of isolated stops.
What sets this experience apart is the balance between movement and understanding. The physical rhythm of cycling sharpens attention, making it easier to grasp how soil, exposure, and distance influence the wines you encounter. Wine is never treated as an abstract subject but as the direct expression of a specific place.
Beyond wine, the experience offers a rare sense of scale and proportion. You are given time to absorb Saint-Emilion as both a living village and a working landscape.
What is the profile of the host?
Tim Cowley, a former professional rugby player from New Zealand, moved to Europe in 2003, originally planning to stay for just one year. Travel quickly became central to his life, and after retiring from rugby in 2012, he chose to focus on his passion for wine, travel, and French culture.
Bordeaux brought all of this together. With its nearby coastline, vast vineyard landscapes, outstanding wines, rich food culture, and deep historical roots, the region became the natural setting for his next chapter. Tim did his first ever tour using an old car he borrowed from a mate and his adventure began.
Together with Julie and Rémi, Tim now creates carefully curated private experiences across Bordeaux’s most celebrated vineyards. Their work focuses on authenticity, storytelling, and genuine human connection, bringing together excellent wines, beautiful landscapes, and a relaxed, welcoming approach.
What to bring?
