What is this?

Feast on classic Argentine pastries and hearty mains in this culinary odyssey of Palermo Soho, a neighborhood in Buenos Aires where life orbits around dining, the arts, and good times. With so many restaurants vying for your attention, this curated food tour from a porteño skips past the tourist traps and focuses on the spots loved by locals. This gourmet walking tour is divided into approximately seven tasty segments. Upon meeting your host, Carlos, you will cruise bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and ice cream parlors with tastings at the spots that take your fancy. Carlos has cherry-picked his favorite places to eat and imbues his excursion with cultural commentary and personal tales from his own experiences working in restaurants alongside his father, a prolific Argentine chef. The experience plays out as a walking tour with food stops punctuated by stops at plazas, parks, and boutiques. Needless to say, a healthy appetite is a must, and sharing dishes enhances your experience.

What makes this unique?

This culinary jaunt around Palermo Soho is an authentic exploration of Argentine and porteño flavors. Carlos introduces you to the culinary delights of the "Paris of South America" while providing context to each bite. While grazing on empanadas, chomping on sandwiches de miga, gnawing into prime cuts of steak, and nursing a Fernet digestif, Carlos will share tidbits about the history of these staples and how they have evolved. The itinerary loosely mimics a seven course dining experience. After whetting your appetite over a hors d'oeuvre of chipás or medialunas, you'll move onto an appetizer of choripan washed down with a beer. Empanadas serve as the perfect starter before sitting down to feast on Argentine steak or milanesa. Opt for a refreshing gelato palate cleanse before concluding the experience over alfajores and coffee. We recommend sharing as many dishes as possible to maximize the tasting potential.

What is the profile of the host?

With Spanish, Italian, and German lineage, Carlos is a third generation Porteño (local of Buenos Aires) and the son of one of the city's most prominent chefs. Exploring the culinary delights of Buenos Aires with Carlos doesn't just mean eating and drinking; you'll absorb art, music, architecture, history, and culture along the way and come to understand how these topics are linked. He'll share medley of anecdotes from his experiences working in restaurants alongside his father—from Buenos Aires to Bariloche. Not only is Carlos a professional guide but he is also an avid traveler who understands the mindset of epicurean adventurers.

What to bring?
