What is this?
This sophisticated yet relaxed private dining experience takes place in the tasting room of an Argentine chef and English sommelier in Palermo Hollywood, Buenos Aires. The setting is intimate and domestic, designed for couples or small private groups who want to spend an evening around food, wine, and conversation rather than a restaurant table.
Five courses are prepared in the on-site kitchen using seasonal ingredients and recipes rooted in Argentine home cooking. The menu celebrates Aby’s family recipes while weaving together pre-Columbian traditions, the flavors brought by generations of immigrants, and the regional character found across Argentina.
As the evening unfolds, Bertie hosts the table, pairing each course with a small-production Argentine wine from Mendoza and beyond. He explains his pairing choices and shares his perspective, while Aby moves between kitchen and table — seasoning the conversation with techniques, stories, and memories.
What makes this unique?
The experience is shaped as much by dialogue as by what’s on the plate. Seated in a private tasting room, you have the full attention of both chef and sommelier. The atmosphere encourages curiosity and connection — around the table, the wines, and your friendly co-hosts — as the evening unfolds as a shared conversation.
Each of Aby’s courses highlights local ingredients and everyday culinary traditions, from delicate starters to hearty mains and a sweet finish, each paired with expressive wines. Every dish invites response and discussion — how flavors land, how wine changes them, and what these combinations reveal through experience rather than explanation.
Bertie’s pairings focus on small producers and distinctive bottles chosen for how they interact with the food. Argentina’s diversity emerges glass by glass, through taste and exchange, in an evening grounded in generosity, hospitality, and ease.
What is the profile of the host?
Bertie, an English Sommelier, and Aby, an Argentine chef, are a Buenos Aires-based couple dedicated to sharing food, wine, and excellent company. Aby has been cooking traditional Argentine food since she was a child — helping at family gatherings — and Bertie has worked as a professional sommelier since 2008.
The couple met by chance in Rio de Janeiro in 2014. What began as conversations about flavors and cultures soon grew into a partnership rooted in curiosity and hospitality. Since 2016, they’ve been running wine discovery and cooking classes together, creating meaningful experiences that celebrate regional traditions, local producers, and the joy of exploring Argentina one glass at a time. The couple have established an intimate tasting room in Palermo Hollywood, and offer their wine flights and meals shared around a big table - the Argentine way!
