This private ceramics experience invites you to create a mate drinking gourd from scratch. Over the course of 3.5 hours, you will learn about the entire process of modeling and decorating ceramics, culminating in a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home and relive your time in Mendoza with every sip. While you shape and create your personalized gourd, you will sip on mate chosen by Lucila. Sharing mate (a caffeinated herbal beverage) is an integral component of Argentine culture and you'll come to understand why. Lucila Quevedo is a ceramic artist from Mendoza who has been teaching classes in her workshop for 7 years. She is passionate about the craft of ceramics and focuses on artisanal techniques. Through her work and teachings, she seeks to transmit the essence of this art form and inspire others to explore their creative side.

While crossing the city center, the narrative spans the late seventeenth to the nineteenth century, when the city armed 508 expeditions linked to about 150,000 Africans deported to the Americas. When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

San Pedro de Atacama is an oasis within the driest desert in the world at the very north of Chile. At more than 8000 feet above sea level, it sits in the center of a ring of volcanoes, the most famous of them being Licancabur. A couple of them still spew smoke.

Volcano climbing, consequently, is a very popular activity here ('why climb the volcanoes?’ - I ask. ‘Because you can!’- says the guide) and we are quickly put on a 4-day program to acclimatize ourselves to the altitude - with progressively higher altitude hikes to prepare us for the final climb. Monks Valley

The Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold) is one of Seville’s most iconic landmarks, situated along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. This 13th-century dodecagonal tower was originally built by the Almohads as a military watchtower and was later used to control access to the river. Its name, “Tower of Gold,” is believed to stem from the golden gleam it once reflected off the river or possibly from the gold brought from the New World that was stored in its vaults. Today, the Torre del Oro is a maritime museum, offering visitors a glimpse into Seville's rich naval history.
 Highlights of Torre del Oro:

1. Panoramic Views: Climb to the top of the tower for stunning 360-degree views of Seville’s skyline, including landmarks like the Giralda and the cathedral. The vantage point also offers a unique perspective of the Guadalquivir River.

2. Maritime Museum: The tower houses a small museum that tells the story of Seville’s naval history, featuring ancient maps, ship models, and artifacts that highlight the city’s role during Spain’s Age of Exploration.

3. Architectural Heritage: Admire the tower’s dodecagonal (12-sided) structure, a prime example of Almohad military architecture. The tower has been restored over the centuries, preserving its Moorish origins while incorporating later influences.

4. Historical Significance: Learn about the tower’s role in Seville’s defense system during the Middle Ages, when it was part of the city’s fortifications and a crucial lookout point.
