You begin aboard a silent, solar-powered boat, gliding through the heart of the valley while your hosts introduce you to local wines and the stories behind the producers who shape the landscape. Then step ashore for a short ride into the hills.

Your destination is a working Quinta (estate) known not only for wine, but also for small-batch gin and culinary ingredients sourced directly from the land. Once there, you explore the vineyards, taste an estate-distilled gin tonic, and visit buildings on the property tracing the evolution of the property — from early viticulture to diversified production.

After a picnic lunch in a romantic setting overlooking the Douro River, you drive towards a viewpoint over the hills, then finish at a stylish bar for final tastings of port wine. 

This experience invites you to slow down and make the most of your day in the Douro. You'll arrive at a working estate via the river, just as people once did before roads reached the valley's secluded vineyards. Your final stop takes you to a discreet hillside café and wine bar known to few visitors. With sweeping views across the Douro Valley, it's the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. The owners have carefully curated a selection of regional Ports and Douro wines, allowing you to finish the journey with one last tasting while reflecting on the landscapes, producers, and stories you've encountered throughout the day. 

Carlos and Paulo have built long-standing friendships with the owners over the years, giving you access to a welcoming local space removed from the main tourist trail. Rather than ending the day in a busy tasting room, you'll enjoy an intimate setting where knowledgeable hosts share their passion for Douro wines and Ports, accompanied by one of the valley's finest views. Tuck into a picnic-style lunch made up of regional dishes, served under the trees or between vine terraces, prepared using ingredients grown nearby or foraged on the estate. On extremely hot days, the meal may be served on the restaurant terrace.
