What is this?
This intimate photo walk is an invitation to experience Madrid architecture through black and white photography. Whether a beginner or an experienced photographer, you'll join Biniam, a professional with deep connections to the city, for a hands-on shoot of exteriors in an emblematic central neighborhood.
You'll begin with a coffee at a calm plaza tucked away in the heart of the city. From there, the route winds through the largely pedestrianised Barrio de los Austrias, Madrid's oldest quarter, where car-free streets and squares let you move at a relaxed pace. Along the way you'll pass iconic locations such as the Plaza Mayor and Sabatini Gardens, taking in Madrid's colors and elegance as you go.
The walk, always unhurried, focuses not just on technique but on perspective—how to frame Madrid's light, energy, and contrasts. Black and white photography is an ideal medium for capturing shadows, geometry, and emotion. To conclude, Biniam will take one b&w portrait of you or your group.
What makes this unique?
With his calm, observant style, Biniam guides you to focus on the golden light on historic facades. Movement in shadow. The rhythms of daily life. You'll explore with your camera, learning how to read the city as a photographer. As a keepsake from the walk, you'll also receive a monochrome portrait of yourself, captured in Biniam's signature black-and-white style. He'll share guidance tailored to this visual language, helping you see the city with fresh eyes.
This photography experience is particularly suitable for urban photographers who like to focus on architecture. The 'Madrid of the Habsburgs' is defined by a blend of medieval irregularity and Habsburg grandeur. It marries the austere, geometric Herrerian style with Renaissance and Baroque elements.
Biniam shares tips as you go—on lighting, composition, timing—tailored to your style and experience. This one is for people drawn to urban detail, perspective, and light and shadow.
