You begin the day in San Miguel de Allende, traveling east into the countryside toward Atotonilco. Here, you visit Santuario de Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for 18th-century murals that cover nearly every interior surface. In the afternoon, you travel to Dolores Hidalgo and visit the parish church where Miguel Hidalgo issued the Grito de Dolores on September 16, 1810 — recognized as the start of Mexico’s independence movement.
