A Carnevale Wedding

The highlight of this vibrant celebration is a grand parade featuring the whimsical, symbolic marriage of Re Giorgio (the king of Carnevale) and Mannena (a beautiful local woman). After meeting your local guide, Gianmario Pedroni, you’ll enjoy a typical lunch learning about the Carnival traditions, before joining the parade at 3 PM. Re Giorgio eagerly awaits Mannena, accompanied by the lively Tempio City Band and a dazzling array of allegorical floats. As the streets come alive with colorful floats from both local and visiting towns, you'll be treated to a unique spectacle of performers embodying famous characters in a humorous and irreverent style. Revel in the colorful costumes and masks that reflect Sardinian heritage.

This experience is very exclusive: Led by the official photographer of the event, Gianmario Pedroni, you will be able to access special areas closed to the public to see and photograph the parade up-close. As the son of a local float constructor, Gianmario shares insight into behind-the-scenes stories of the artisans and their work. Starting the tour at his studio allows you to see and hear the stories of his previous work. The Carnival of Tempio Pausania offers a unique and immersive experience in local lore and traditions. The parade features colorful floats, humorous performances, and lively dance-offs, fostering community bonds. Rooted in ancient pagan rituals, the celebration embraces inclusivity, uniting locals and visitors alike in a joyful homage to Sardinian heritage. It will also provide you with the opportunity to capture unique moments of this once-a-year event under the guidance of an expert photographer.

Gianmario Pedroni is the official photographer of the Carnevale of Tempio Pausania. After honing his skills in England, he specialized in advertising, fashion, and design, working with prominent photographers and brands. In 2009, he returned to Sardinia to establish his studio, where he captures the region's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. As the son of a float constructor, Gianmario has always been closely involved in the creation of the floats and continues to collaborate in their construction.
