In this experience, Gisela will explain the cultural history of tango and what the dance means in modern Buenos Aires and wider Argentina. She will explain the etiquette and codes of the dance floor and terminology relating to tango—such as Ronda, Tanda, and Cabeceo. There is the opportunity to dance tango if you wish; however, this is optional. You are welcome to simply spectate and soak up the atmosphere from the sidelines. Although both experiences are pivotal to the full Buenos Aires experience, milongas are far more intimate and authentic in comparison to watching a tango show. Growing up in Buenos Aires, Gisela Vidal danced her first tango at the age of 14. From there, she trained extensively in Tango Salon and Tango Stage style with the finest Argentinian Masters. Besides tango, Gisela has studied contemporary dance, jazz, belly dance, ballet, Argentine folk, and salsa. She has undertaken further tuition in theater and film acting, mime and clown art, and singing.

Gisela has participated in international tango festivals and major events including the opening of the Dakar 2009 in Buenos Aires. She was the choreographer and a stunt dancer for the Tango Infedele Video Clip. During her 20-year career, Gisela has danced and coached in over 40 countries. She co-managed a tango school in Milan and coordinated the Tango Querido School in Tuscany. She launched her own jewelry business in 2018.

Andrea Bustillos, trained in Madrid, previously directed a gallery focused on contemporary painting and now leads a national program supporting Mexico’s Creative Industries. Andrea Villers, educated in Granada with a master’s in Curatorial Studies from UNAM, runs a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategy.

Their experience is in-depth and shaped by their knowledge of the local art scene and strong relationships with artists, curators, and institutions. On rare occasions when they are unavailable, their trusted colleagues Jaime and Mario—also seasoned art historians—will host in their place.

In a dawn wildlife excursion, you'll canoe the magical canals in Xochimilco with a biodiversity expert. You set out before sunrise with private transport from your hotel. My enduring memory of this visit was watching a group of women unraveling their yarn 🧶 with hands moving so fast it was mesmerising to watch. 

Chinchero is a small Andean village near Urubamba. A handicrafts market is held here thrice a week - and it’s a great place to meet the local people. 

Or to haggle for textiles. Or vegetables. Or a 🐓. To learn how to distinguish between the various Andean tribes based on their different, wildly colorful hats. To catch a weaving demonstration at a local workshop. And marvel at how every color in the wool comes from a natural dye source. 

And my favorite: To make an old lady laugh by showing her pictures on my viewfinder of her own toothy grin from different angles.

Running through the heart of the historic center, Spaccanapoli literally means "Naples Splitter" because it slices the city in two. One of the highlights of this district is the Sansevero Chapel, a small yet astonishing space filled with stunning baroque sculptures and mystical symbolism.

Highlights of the Spaccanapoli District:
1. Sansevero Chapel Museum: This chapel is home to the renowned sculpture *Cristo Velato* (Veiled Christ) by Giuseppe Sanmartino, a breathtaking masterpiece known for its delicate marble veil that seems impossibly real. The chapel also contains mysterious symbols and alchemical elements, making it one of Naples' most intriguing sites.

Faroe Islands

Getting there on a little ferry tossed around on the surging Atlantic Ocean needs courage. As the boat uses all her resources to maneuver into a tight, rocky harbor, I wonder if the captain, who does this twice a day, is either extremely brave or completely suicidal. We step on to what looks like the sets of a Disney fantasy movie. Twenty colorful grass-roofed homes, one little schoolhouse - which has one child - and a bridge over the Atlantic.

I meet my guide Harald - a septuagenarian with poise to rival the curious sheep we see hanging precariously over the cliffs. Harald leads our little group on a 4-hour hike across the island to the lighthouse at the westernmost point of the Faroes.

Birds are everywhere - puffins, fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets - on the green hills, riding the ocean waves, occupying every inch of cliff space, filling the air with their calls, and circling the sky.
