This experience is ideal for anyone curious about the enduring Zapotec people—a culture and community whose roots in Oaxaca stretch back more than 2,500 years.

It begins at a 16th-century church built by Dominican monks, where Spanish colonial design merges with indigenous iconography. This 3.5-hour photography experience takes place in two of the most beautiful and culturally rich neighborhoods in Buenos Aires: La Boca and San Telmo. Led by a professional travel photographer from Buenos Aires, you will explore these streets with your own camera and learn how to capture the kinds of imagery usually seen in guidebooks and brochures.  Bernardo will steer you past iconic sights and down hidden passageways, illuminating architectural features easily spotted by the typical traveler. You will also fall into the natural rhythm of these bohemian districts and hear about the people who have shaped their development over the centuries.

The experience is designed for beginner photographers through to those with an existing knowledge of photography. It is best experienced with a DSLR or mirrorless camera however cell phones are also welcome. Tripods are not necessary although carrying a variety of lenses is a bonus.

This photographic experience is designed to introduce you to the most bohemian, visually enticing, and culturally stimulating neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Rather than a standard walking tour, you will explore La Boca and San Telmo from the perspective of a professional photographer, an artist, and a Porteño local. Bernardo will guide you along La Caminito—the “Little Street” also referred to as an open-air street museum—where you will be immersed in the area’s vibrant history of tango and street art. Chile

Round off a day exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Valparaíso by experiencing an authentic asado chileno with a local guide and grill master born and raised in the seaport. This three-hour barbecue experience is a personal invitation to partake in a beloved food experience rooted in convivencia (togetherness). Upon arrival at Juan Víctor’s family residence, you will be greeted with homemade empanadas and a pisco sour (Chile’s national cocktail). Chorizo sausages and premium cuts of beef are slowly cooked over an open flame, allowing plenty of time to chat with Juan Víctor over a glass of Carménère wine. 

In the sprit of convivencia, you are likely to be joined by some of Juan Víctor's relatives, friends, and neighbors. Together, you will bite into sizzling choripanes (chorizo sausages served on crusty marraqueta bread) and strips of meat fresh from the grill. The conversation will flow and you will return to your hotel with a full stomach and a happy heart. 

This experience invites you to partake in a traditional Chilean barbecue with a porteño and his family in Valparaíso. Juan Víctor’s mission is to introduce you to the highest-quality meat (or plant-based alternatives) in the relaxed, intimate environment of a local household. This is a cultural exchange whereby every item is shared, all questions are welcome, and the conversation has no boundaries. As a passionate asador (grill master), Juan Víctor is thrilled to share tidbits about Chilean food and wine. But he will also use this time to chat about the wider aspect of Chilean culture and his lived experience as porteño. On most occasions, some of Juan Víctor's relatives, friends, and neighbors will join the asado — making this a thoroughly sociable affair.

Just outside Oaxaca city is a community called San Andres Huayapam, that is famed as the birthplace of tejate. This thoughtfully curated experience offers a rare opportunity to connect with this tradition firsthand. You’ll explore the area where it was founded, peruse local murals, plus meet a traditional tejatera who will explain the process, ingredients and the history of this nutritious drink.

This pre-Hispanic libation was used in sowing and harvesting ceremonies and also consumed by Zapotec kings. It’s made from corn, cacao, flor de rosita, toasted mamey pits, and water in a massive clay pot. It’s traditionally served in a painted bowl known as a jícara.

We’ll then enjoy fresh tejate and a snack with this tejatera in her home. Finally, we’ll walk to a restaurant for a set sampler meal of traditional delicacies. This venue is located in the courtyard of another local family home, and sits under a canopy of branches, which are key to producing the blooms in the tejate process.

While the host has lived in Oaxaca for a decade, five of those years have been spent in this Zapotec community. Here, she has forged meaningful connections with locals and can speak to how the town voluntarily operates under Indigenous usos y costumbres law, as well as the annual tejate festival. That said, the specifics of this tradition will be shared by an expert local who has inherited her skills from a long line of tejate makers.

Located roughly 20 minutes from Oaxaca de Juárez, this scenic pueblo offers a glimpse of traditional village life—locals working the fields, burros carrying firewood, and adobe makers crafting custom earthen bricks. An especially popular destination for Oaxacans on weekends, many travel here to sample tejate, visit nearby lakes, and enjoy gourmet fare in family-run restaurants. It’s an authentic window into everyday life in this stunning region of southern Mexico.

Chilean textile entrepreneur Florencia “Flor” Campos Correa has curated this experience as a cultural commentary on Chilean/Andean handcrafts and an opportunity to connect with modern makers in Santiago. 

It starts with a relaxed hike up the grassy slopes of Cerro Calán in Las Condes for panoramic views of the modern city and surrounding Andes — the birthplace of Chilean textile crafts. During this, Flor explains artisanal culture and discusses how her own methods fuse Indigenous, modern, and global techniques. This gentle walk takes around an hour and is suitable for most fitness levels. 

The second part of the experience takes place at Los Dominicos Craft Village, a traditional heritage zone and cultural hub dating to 1544. Flor will enable conversations with artisans and provide cultural context to their methods. She will help you buy trinkets typical of Chile: textiles, ceramics, woodwork, copperware, lapis lazuli and Mapuche silver. There is one stop for empanadas in the market.

Flor's experience is an opportunity to learn about Chilean textile culture in a natural setting and connect with authentic artisans. 

The first part of the activity takes place in one of Flor’s favorite hiking spots in the upscale Las Condes district, where you'll learn about the cultural significance of handmade crafts to a backdrop of nature and urban. As a textile industrial designer who has traveled extensively around Chile, Flor is a fountain of knowledge about her country and its makers; she looks to the past while embracing innovation in her line of work.

The rest of the experience is spent meandering the stalls of the famous Los Dominicos Craft Village. Artisans set up workshops in these adobe structures during the 1970s/1980s which now function as a shopping hub with informal demonstrations. Flor's bilingual presence facilitates discussion and creates a richer, more immersive experience. She will explain the significance of materials and motifs displayed at these stalls.

Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people. She deeply admires the landscapes and nature as well as the ancient fables she absorbed as a child while traveling every corner of Chile by caravan with her family.

Flor has authored several books packed with vibrant pattern inspiration and projects. Her nature motifs are translated into floral crochet designs published in a British magazine and she has penned a children's story which inspires creativity and entrepreneurship in the youngest of budding designers.

I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”

Moda, a charming neighborhood in Kadıköy on Istanbul’s Asian side, offers a refreshing escape from the city’s bustling European quarter. Known for its bohemian vibe and laid-back ambiance, Moda is the perfect spot for leisurely seaside strolls, sipping coffee in trendy cafes, and soaking in the local culture. Accessible by ferry, this vibrant area combines stunning waterfront views with a creative, artsy spirit that’s irresistible to locals and visitors alike.

1. Seaside Promenade: Wander along Moda’s picturesque waterfront, where lush parks and pathways invite you to relax with views of the Marmara Sea. Sunset is especially magical, with hues of gold and pink lighting up the horizon.

Kadıköy Neighborhood

Jamaica

A Black River Safari took us into the heart of the largest freshwater wetland ecosystem in Jamaica, the Great Morass at the Black River. This area, spanning 125 square miles, is a haven for biodiversity, featuring giant mangrove trees and an array of swamp animals, including the endangered American crocodile, protected under the Wildlife Protection Act in Jamaica. 

The guides spotted crocodiles of various sizes in the water and along the riverbanks, including baby crocodiles. Also several bird species call this area home. As we glided along the river, we saw snowy egrets, great egrets, and great blue herons, among other bird species.

The River teems with mangrove trees, ferns, and water lilies. The mangroves are particularly noteworthy, with some species having roots extending 40 feet downward. A curious aspect of the Black River is its dark color, which becomes more noticeable as you move upstream. This is due to the peat soil at the bottom of the river, which, despite giving the river its dark appearance, keeps the water clear. 

If you're interested in learning more about the crocodiles, many tours conclude with a visit to the Crocodile Nursery, where young and injured crocodiles are cared for until they are ready to return to the wild.

Mangroves + Crocodiles

Buenos Aires, Argentina, is home to the San Telmo Market (Mercado de San Telmo), a historic indoor market that offers a perfect blend of antiques, artisanal crafts, and authentic Argentine street food. Established in 1897, this bustling market is housed in a beautiful iron-and-glass structure, where visitors can browse vintage treasures, savor traditional empanadas, and soak up the lively atmosphere of one of Buenos Aires’ oldest neighborhoods.


1. Antique Stalls & Vintage Finds, with everything from old tango records and silverware to classic Argentine memorabilia, making it a paradise for collectors.

2. Local Food Stands, offering Argentine specialties like empanadas, choripán (chorizo sandwich), and fresh-baked medialunas (croissants).

3. El Preferido de San Telmo, a must-visit butcher shop and deli within the market, famous for its Argentine cold cuts, cheeses, and traditional picadas.

4. Tango & Street Performers, often found outside the market, where dancers and musicians bring the spirit of Buenos Aires to life.

5. Sunday Feria de San Telmo, an extension of the market into the surrounding streets, featuring hundreds of stalls selling handmade crafts, leather goods, and local artwork.

Visitor Tip: Visit on Sunday to experience the full San Telmo Feria, but arrive early to avoid crowds. For a sweet treat, try a dulce de leche-filled alfajor from one of the local vendors!

San Telmo Market

Spend your morning exploring the charming town of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning architecture and rich history. Located about 27 km from Split, Trogir is connected to the mainland by a picturesque footbridge, making it an easy and scenic destination.

Begin your visit with a leisurely stroll through the narrow, cobblestone streets of Trogir’s old town. This medieval gem is filled with beautifully preserved buildings showcasing Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The town's layout, largely unchanged since its origins, offers a unique glimpse into the past.

Start at the Trogir Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. This 13th-century masterpiece features an intricate Romanesque portal carved by Master Radovan and a stunning bell tower that offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding sea. Spend about 30 to 45 minutes exploring the cathedral and its treasures.

Next, head to the Kamerlengo Fortress, a striking 15th-century fortification that once protected the town. Wander around its sturdy walls and climb the towers for breathtaking views of Trogir and the Adriatic Sea. Allocate another 30 minutes to an hour for this visit.

As you explore, take time to enjoy the quaint squares and lively waterfront promenade, where you can savor a morning coffee at one of the local cafés. The blend of historical ambiance and coastal charm makes Trogir a perfect destination for a relaxed and enriching morning.

Charming Trogir

Visit the alluring island of Favignana, part of the Aegadian Islands off the western coast of Sicily. Accessible by a 40 minute ferry from Trapani, Favignana is a paradise for beach lovers and those seeking a serene seaside escape. The island's crystal-clear waters and picturesque coves offer an ideal setting for beach hopping - perfect for an off-the-beaten path day trip. Key highlights of this beach adventure include:

1. Ferry Ride from Trapani: The journey begins with a scenic ferry ride from Trapani, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean and the approaching island landscape.

2. Cala Rossa Beach: Known for its breathtaking beauty, Cala Rossa is a must-visit for its turquoise waters and rocky cliffs, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

3. Lido Burrone: This sandy beach is ideal for families, with its shallow waters and amenities like sunbeds and umbrellas. It's a great spot for relaxing and enjoying the sun.

4. Cala Azzurra: Renowned for its clear azure waters, this beach offers a tranquil setting for swimming and soaking up the island's natural beauty.

5. Biking Around the Island: Rent a bike to explore the island's coastline, discovering hidden coves and secluded beaches at your own pace.

Make sure to arrive early on the island and calculate the time needed to get back to the port before the last ferry departs back to Trapani (in summer it is usually around 8 PM).

Favignana Beach Hopping

Valencia, Spain, is home to Albufera Natural Park, a stunning wetland reserve just 10 km (6 miles) south of the city. This vast freshwater lagoon, surrounded by rice fields and wildlife-rich marshlands, is the birthplace of paella and a haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers, and photographers. A visit to Albufera offers a chance to experience Valencia’s traditional fishing villages, serene boat rides, and breathtaking sunsets, making it a perfect escape from the urban bustle.

1. The Albufera Lagoon, one of Spain’s largest wetlands, is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including flamingos, herons, and other migratory birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.

2. Traditional boat rides on wooden fishing boats (albuferencs) offer a peaceful way to explore the lagoon and enjoy its mirror-like waters reflecting the sky.

3. The park is the birthplace of paella, and the nearby village of El Palmar is famous for serving authentic Valencian paella, made with locally grown rice.

4. A network of scenic walking and cycling trails allows visitors to explore the surrounding rice fields, sand dunes, and Mediterranean pine forests.

5. Sunset over the lagoon is one of the most breathtaking sights in Valencia, with the water turning golden as the sun dips below the horizon—ideal for photography.

Visitor Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for a boat ride at sunset, then head to El Palmar for a traditional paella dinner. Renting a bike is also a great way to explore the park at your own pace.

Albufera Natural Park

Orgosolo, a picturesque village in the heart of Sardinia’s Barbagia region, is renowned for its unique blend of history, culture, and artistry. Once known for its rugged and rebellious reputation, Orgosolo has transformed into an open-air art gallery, famous for its politically charged and socially conscious murals. Surrounded by stunning mountainous landscapes, this village offers visitors a chance to explore Sardinia’s deep traditions and vibrant contemporary spirit. 
1. The murals are the village’s most striking feature, with over 150 vivid paintings adorning walls, depicting themes of politics, social justice, and daily life. These works, which began in the 1960s, reflect both local struggles and global events. 
2. Orgosolo’s traditional culture remains strong, with festivals, Sardinian music, and local crafts offering an authentic glimpse into the region’s heritage. 
3. The village is surrounded by the Supramonte Mountains, providing a stunning natural backdrop and opportunities for hiking, exploring caves, and admiring panoramic views. 
4. The Museum of Sardinian Life and Folk Traditions showcases the region’s history, including traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts.
